The History
Hello Every One,
Before actually jumping into the discussion of Mobile market, lets peep in our history from where it all started…Today we will be looking back in time… the time when a revolution in telecommunication took place….
Invention of Phone:
In the years of 1860-1870’s, there was big sensation which was grabbing the world’s attention and this was the invention of “Telegraph”. This technology was the life saver of many during World War 2. But there was a limitation to this new technology; even though the sending and receiving of information was the fastest, during those days, but method used to input the message comparatively slower. Telegraph in early days used “Morse Code” which followed the convention of dots and dashes. This was done by using a tapping device which was tapped as per the character, a long tap, a short tap, a quick tap etc. So if any one would need to send a message such as “Camp under attack send reinforcement” it would take, lot of tapping before the message is actually transmitted to the receiver.
The time had come when telephone was supposed to be introduced to the world.
A young guy, in his late 20’s was about to change the face of telecommunication, "Alexander Graham Bell."
Though the invention of telephone was the contribution of many other people, but Alexander Graham Bell was the 1st one to patent it. (For details please refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invention_of_the_telephone)
Telephone was a big sensation, a big hit, the distance was covered, in minutes or probably seconds; the message was being transmitted and received in just few seconds.
Initially telephone was used a military, and government purpose; but slowly it become a house hold item, a standard consumer good.
(For details please refer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_telephone)
Invention of Cell Phone:
A century later, an electrical engineer Dr. Martin Cooper, invented the 1st mobile phone.

The First Cellphone (1973)
Name: Motorola Dyna-Tac
Size: 9 x 5 x 1.75 inches
Weight: 2.5 pounds
Display: None
Talk time: 35 minutes
Recharge Time: 10 hours
Features: Talk, listen, dial
His 1st call (or should I say the call made from the 1st mobile phone) was to Dr. Joel Engell his rival (Head of Research - Dell labs)
Today
Its is almost one and a half century later since the invention of phone and around 35 years later since the 1st mobile phone was invented.
And if we look and compare we will find a mammoth growth in all the areas of telecommunication.
The market is just exploding….with opportunities. From just talk, listen and dial feature we have reached to a stage where in the feature of a mobile is as good as a computer. A gadget which is not a phone anymore but a device that gives complete entertainment or business solution, and traditional phone feature being a very small part of it.
Face of telephone has been changed completely. Today telecommunication has become a trillion dollar industry, where the smallest contributor picks a good amount of his share. Every year some new feature/service/technology is added to this small device which gives us a higher and richer of service. It seems a never ending process, but some day it will and that day we will leap to something even better than mobile phones. But for now this sector has made a huge growth, from the poorest country to the richest mobile phone is easily available.
Recently; one fine day I was walking down to my friend’s place. On the way, I saw on the road side a group of beggars (who actually lived there), as I was crossing them a heard a very familiar sound which made me to stop. I looked around in search of the source of the sound, and what I found out was startling. A young child, from that group of beggars, was playing the game of snake (FYI if you’re an Alien: A very famous inbuilt game from Nokia) in some old Nokia phone. Amazing!!!
Mobile phone is so wildly and thickly distributed in all the demography of the world…that this device can be used to reach many many lives, in just a second.
We have come a long way from 1st phone in 1860 to 1st cell phone in 1973, and ultimately to a time where we don’t carry any phone any more; but we carry a pocket computer.
We have to go a very long way…and the journey is beautiful….
Lets explore the opportunities… :)

When I was in my third year of engineering, I used to wonder, “How exciting it would be to get a job where in you get paid for playing video games!”
And there it was; Mumbai (India), the start of my career as a mobile game tester. Since then I have walked a long way and have reached to position where in I hold the responsibility for the title of Project Manager (without title-Associate Sales and Marketing executive) and yes of course I’m still climbing……..
During my course of walk in my career I have learnt many things, especially related to mobile industry. But for me there was always a problem with these kind of information, they were just not easily available and I used to actually HUNT for these information. It was like collecting bits and pieces, and putting them together so that they make some sense. But slowly my database piled up; and I saw friends and other people approaching me for help. This was the time when I realized that there should be a central hub where in we can pool in all the knowledge for this specific topic. A place from where everyone can access the complete knowledge about Mobile Market. My aim to start this blog is to share as much information as possible on Mobile Market.
In this blog we will be discussing about the history, current scenario, future, scope, market opportunities, risk, market capture, even covering some of the production cycle for game and apps development (we wont be going in details in technical stuff as the focus of this blog is more on Sales and Marketing). The whole concept is to create a knowledge base for mobile marketing, where any person from any demography can get complete relevant information in just one place... (I know it is very difficult to reach the database of 100% knowledge; but it’s not impossible either)
Well this is it, a basic intro…….
And yes....every one is free to put in there own views......
Ok guyz and gurls.... lets rock………
